I took this on Saturday morning on the way to the train station, heading back home to Newcastle.
Dinosaur had a massive headache.
The dream would be to post an instax shot up here everyday that has been taken on that day. If I don't manage to take a picture on that day then an instant taken in the past will be posted. This will be accompanied by some sort of description as to why I found the subject of the image interesting or a little background story. The idea is that this will encourage me to capture something of interest once a day and this blog will provide a place to document this.

#35 - the DJ is from Middlesbrough... "oh, that's a shame"
Yesterday I returned home to Newcastle from York. I stayed over there on Friday night and wore my Kigu to a clubnight.
I slept on a sofa, the other Kigu slept face down on the floor wrapped in a rug. Legend.
As I was cleaning up someone in the house passed judgement on Middlesbrough, turns out he has never even visited there. Enough said really. No worries though as he seemed like a nice guy.
This picture is from the top window of the house, the window of a really tiny bedroom. You can see York Minster in the distance which is a beautiful building which you should visit if you ever can.
Tomorrow comes the other instant I took in York, which is pretty amazing.

#34 - Sicky
Last night a bunch of lovely people came round to partake in some pumpkin carving. Everyone put loads of effort in and good times were had!

#33 - Tynemouth Adventure (pt. 5)
That's the last of the Tynemouth Aventure. Tynemouth is a lovely place though, so probably more pictures from there in the future.
There is some sort of surf championship there today. Also there was a Surf film festival on there. I didn't find out about it until after it was on but some of the films sounded interesting... http://www.tynemouthsurffilmfest.com/.
Surfing is big in Tynemouth.

I'm sure one of those black spots is some sort of bird, would be nice to think so.
Imagine sitting up there late on a winters night..

#30 - Tynemouth Adventure (pt. 2)
This castle/ruins is closed on weekends in the winter months, a nosy round wasn't possible. However I nearly got a picture of a car driving out of the castle, too slow!
I decided to take a shot from where I was allowed to... (the other side of the fence). It turned out pretty awesome anyway. Screw you security.

#29 - Tynemouth Adventure (pt. 1)
For those who don't know of Tynemouth.
Saturday brought about a trip to Tynemouth which was bloody lovely.
I took lots of snaps which are going to be posted one by one. The sky was having an interesting day.
This place in todays photo is where lanterns were set off for a certain Mr Marshall's birthday, a few weeks back.

#28 - Jesus
Last weekend I went to visit Bobby G in Liverpool to celebrate his 21st birthday. Loads of boros went down. Rob got a pipe for his birthday. It was a bloody class night.
I slept on a floor for a while then a sofa for a few hours. I woke up to Callum calling my name in the creepiest way possible. Words cannot describe it.
The next day we went for breakfast. I took this picture of the amazing cathedral that we were near. I haven't been able to decide whether I liked it or not for the past week.
I've decided that I like the silhouette effect and if you want to see the detail of the cathedral. Go to Liverpool!

#27 - Bacon and Cheese
Last night a very good friend of mine from college hosted a dinner party. Emily was kind enough to invite me and my other very good friend Pip.
Emilys cooking was spot on and there was even a chocolate fountain for dessert. We met loads of lovely people, including Emily's two Italian cousins who were hassling me all night to go out and get drunk. One day I will make party for them. I still managed to sleep through my alarm so it probably wouldn't have made much difference.
Pip was introduced alot as 'the jumper man'. His company sells class jumpers. Two very exciting opportunities for arose from people he met. Check out his page on facebook.

the blog wasn't his idea
Yesterday I posted an instant that my flatmate Callum kindly took on his day trip to Scotland.
One thing I forgot to mention is that he has his own blog. It's been pretty class so far. It's about what he is spending his student loan on, and the blog definately wasn't his idea.

#26 - Scotland
I wrote earlier that today my flatmate Callum had his hands on my camera. I didn't know where he was going or what he was going to take a picture of. Another excitement factor.
Turns out he drove to Scotland with my other flatmate Rob. An amazing picture was brought back!
Callum McGlade
This is my flatmate Callum McGlade. Today’s instant is going to be brought to you by him. You should be very excited. See you tonight hopefully with some sort of delight!

#25 - Saltburn pier
When first taken I thought this photo was going to be a write off due to lack of light. But I quite like how the pier fades into darkness.

18 - Boiled Eggs
Sorry for the rubbish picture. I forgot to use the magnifying lens. I quite like the blurriness anyway. You get the idea. Boiled eggs. Who doesn't love a nice boiled egg? Always reminds me of childhood. I've nearly finished reading Get in the Van. Maybe after that I'll have some pictures that aren't inside. I took the instax out with me today as it was sunny. As soon as I set foot outside it turned cloudy. Boooo

#17 - Run in the Van
Less than a week ago I ordered the book on the left from Amazon. The package was left next door. Which is comical in itself as I'm pretty sure our neighbours dislike us. That wasn't going to stop me from getting my mitts on 'Get in the Van'.
I read about 3/4 of the book yesterday. It has made me think alot and probably gave me the pick-up that I needed. Good work Henry. I don't think I'm in a position to say anything more about the book yet. Maybe when I've finished it.
During reading the book on the right arrived for me (apparently). My name and address was on the front of the package however a different name and address are on the invoice. If this is your book and you want it then you can have it. The last thing I want to do is read a book that tells me how to run. I opened it for a quick skim and the first line I read was something about not being able to eat an elephant in one bite. How does this shit sell?

#16 - A whole week without anything
I got pulled up earlier for lacking with the 'daily' element. Truth is I spent the start of last week trying to get my head around the fact that I'm starting my third year of my university course. The last thing I wanted to do was talk to the world (or the few people that read this). I've came to the conlusion that I'm very nervous about it but I'm looking forward to working hard at something I enjoy doing, therefore all is good. This weekend was spent in Middlesbrough. I forgot to take my camera. Boooo. Some good things happened that I would have liked to photograph. Nevermind.
So until I get back into the swing of things and find some new interesting things for you to photograph I'm going to post some oldies. This one was taken at The Forbidden Corner. It was a lovely day. You can read my original post from the day here.
I hadn't noticed until the picture started developing that the colour of the tree leaves are pretty much split down the middle of the image. The left half of the picture with green leaves, the right with brown leaves. A nice little touch to an already beautiful photo I reckon. Not to blow my own trumpet. Parp!

#13 - The sun never shines on Baltic square (+ logo for the blog)
If you have had any interest in this blog over the past two and a half weeks you will notice that theres a new logo logo up there. I like it alot. It looks better on my blogspot layout so if you're reading on tumblr have a look at that to see it's full beauty. It was created by my mate Jade Newton who is really talented at stuff like that. Check her out. Thank you Jade.
Two pictures again today. It's seems really hard to get a decent shot of places in the quayside with an instax. The first one was taken using 'normal, 3m-infinite' settings. The second with 'lighten, 3m-infinite'. Either buildings are really dark and the sky is nicely exposed or the buildings are nicely exposed and the sky is whited out. Maybe another day. So to make up for the average photos I thought I'd put two up.
Enough about cameras an' that. It was a nice sunny afternoon. The Baltic had more and new stuff in from the last time I visited. My favourite floor was probably Tomás Saraceno. He bloody loves spiders. He studied spiders for ages and created a massive (apparently pretty accurate) spiders web. There is a back room that informs you of how he went about creating it. Pretty impressive stuff.
Also exhibited was Cornelia Parker who squashed loads of instruments down in a press, hung them from the ceiling and lit them with one bright bulb in a fairly dim room. The result? loads of class shadows on the wall. In her other room was loads of amazingly interesting rubbish she had collected. Like fluff from the House Of Lords/Commons and a vinyl before it has been pressed.
The othet two floors were dedicated to John Cage. My impression of him from the information the Baltic provided me with was that he was a jack of all trades, talented man who liked making music but also loved mushrooms (he was a 'mushroom collector' according to Wikipedia). He managed to do 860 watercolours and drawings in what I worked out to be about 10 years. Pretty good going (thats around one every 4.2 days) even if some of them were pretty rubbish. Seems like a nice way to spent your later years. I also enjoyed that he was a big believer in 'silence' being defined as 'ambient noise'. Good lad.
The ground floor was full of peoples work who had carred on John Cage's ideas and created their own art with it. To me it just seemed like what John Cage would have made if he had layed off the mushrooms.
You should definately visit the Baltic while all this stuff is in. Worth a look.
p.s. The first Naughty Knitwear stalls are this Sunday. GET WARM.

#12 - TWO instants?
I couldn't decide which instax to put up from my recent trip to the beach, so you're getting both.
I love pretty much everything about this photo. Especially the sky. It was a beautiful place. I can't believe I've been living in Newcastle for over two years and have visited the beaches so little.
This man is the face of The Naughty Knitwear Company. Look at him. Of course you're going to buy a jumper off him.
This happened last night. It was bloody fantastic. I had the biggest grin on my face all the way through the set.

#11 - RPM records bank holiday sunday
Today's instant is of one guy from The Winter Hill Transmission. As he joked - the rest of the band were elsewhere. I heard loads of cheers for The Watchers in the courtyard while I was inside the shop providing peoples ears with top records from some folk greats. People came down for a listen and even a little dance. These RPM all dayers are really small scale but that doesn't make them any less awesome.
Some lovely fella educated me about King Crimson. I bought a Bob Marley 7" for £1. Bargains never stop.
Mother nature was teasing us with small glimmers of sun followed by downpours but endless cups of tea, sandwiches and sweets made the day a delight.
Go to the next one, even if it's raining. You will have fun.

#10 - Rooftop shots
To make up for me skipping a few days (10 posts in 13 days isn't bad right?) I'm treating you to two of my favourite instants from the past. Yeah they're not new, but they're class. Both pictures taken from rooftops of public buildings. I think rooftops are perfect for a nice photo as you can get so much into one image, especially with the detail that the instax film produces.
This first one is taken from the top of the Tate Modern in London. This trip was an attempt to see Sunny Day Real Estate and Saves the Day at the HMV Forum. Unfortunately the bloody volcanic ash stopped them from making it over. So we saw some sights instead.
This second picture was taken from the seventh floor of the library in Amsterdam. When I went to visit Lauren. This was the resturant floor (with roof terrace). The food they served there was awesome. Three course meal for €10 and the best garlic sauce outside of Boro.

#9 - Leeds (not the festival)
Today's instant was taken in Leeds this morning. This picture has no relevance to my blog post other than the fact it's a place in Leeds. I liked the building, the statue and the sky in this moment in time. If anyone knows anything about whats in the picture then I would be happy to listen. I thought I better snap something before I got on the train as I didn't get chance to take one of the Royal Park Cellars, which was host to a class gig I went to last night. The line-up was Brontide + Rosa Valle + William KJ Anderson + Cub Club. I'm not going to bore you with a massive review of each band. You're getting one liners and pictures (I took some of my own on my fisheye so they should be up soon).
Brontide - Intense. Loud. PEDALS. Awesome.
Rosa Valle -One upped Cub Club by half of them playing on the floor. The most boro band on the bill. Lovely as always.
William K. J. Anderson - Awesome acoustic numbers that are inspired by The Wire (I'm lead to believe). How can you not like him? Totally changed the atmosphere in the venue aswell.
Cub Club - Class. The singer really utilised the little step infront of the stage. Mathy, tappy and proper class.
If you thought this blog post was Leeds Festival free then you were mistaken. If you aren't going and keep bitching about how rubbish the festival then crack a bloody smile. I'm sure you don't hate the festival as much as you make out. It's a music festival, thats not the worst way you could spend your weekend. Loads of people were making their way to the festival site from Leeds train station, quite disheartening considering I was heading back to Newcastle. I'm going to have a class time watching it on telly this weekend. Maybe I'll do some sort of Leeds festival feature considering I'm not going. My take on the bands that are playing. How does that sound?
Just to annoy the haters even more. Here's a picture of the lineup:
DEAL WITH IT. The lineup is good. (apart from Guns 'n' Roses - get lost Axl and let Slash do his business)

#8 - The Olde Young Tea House
Today's instant is of two fine loose leaf teas that were picked up from The Olde Young Tea House in Middlesbrough. The one on the left is cherry, the one on the right is summer blend. I am reliably informed that the summer blend contains a mix of nettle, bilberries, raspberries, rose petals and sunflower petals. Quite the mix, but it works. I've sampled both teas over the past day (I don't know why it took me so long, I bought them a good while ago). Bloody class, both of them.
Loads and loads of tea. I'm only just getting started on them. If you're not sure which one you want then have a sniff in one of the jars. This place doesn't just stop at tea. Tasty looking scones and tasty looking cakes. Sandwiches if you are peckish. Also the best looking till I've seen in a while, reassurance that your money is going to a good place.
I bet you want a piece? The stuff in here is pretty cheap - £1.50 for a mug of loose leaf tea, £1.50 for a scone with jam and cream. Another place that doesn't take the piss with prices.
If there ever was a reason to visit Middlesbrough, this is it. Take no notice of Channel 4 and get in touch with me. I'll show you the class side of the town.
p.s. cheeky plug - some of my fisheye pictures are up in some awesome old picture frames on the wall to the left of the counter. another reason to visit.
Here's one of my faves that is up:

#7 - The Forbidden Corner
I wasn't at a computer long enough yesterday to post something up. Thats the least of our worries though. Sunday is some sort of sabbath day anyway? Day of rest an' that. ANYWAY. This instant is allowed to be a day late because it is one of my favourite instax's I've ever snapped. This jolly fella was leading the way into The Forbidden Corner.
Forbidden Corner is pretty much a massive playground (credit goes to some father for that description, he was trying to get his kid to go down the very steep spiral stairs into the underground) that is class no matter how old you are. Words cannot describe this place. I'm not going to spend a paragraph of your time trying to paint a picture of it. Because you will still be blown away when you get there. If you ever get there. I know it's probably the 5th time I've said this in a weeks worth of blog posts but - if you get a chance to visit, DO IT!
Upon entering this magical world you get given this checklist that lists all of the attractions. I have now been to this place twice and still haven't managed to find this bloody tree dog. I'm starting to doubt it even exists. If you have been here and found the tree dog then please do reassure me it is actually there.
I want to keep ramblings about my everyday life to a minimal. You really don't need to know about what food is passing through my mouth every day. But I feel what I ate last night deserves a grand mention. It was a delicious chicken curry with lots of vegetables inside and curried potatoes on the side. WELL DONE EDDY READ!

#6 - No camping, no fires
Firstly, I think it's pretty sad that people can't be trusted to camp on open land. I'm guessing that's the reason for the the 'no camping' and 'no fires' sign. The way I look at it, if you clean up after yourself and leave no trace then it's all good.
The place in todays instant was really, really nice. Apart from the midgies. I'm covered in bites.
We went to a class pub last night that was pretty much someones living room. There was a kid pulling pints, loads of Fleetwood Mac and a dog called peanut. Also Black Sheep on draft, perfect.
This beauty of a sauce was the star of the night. It made everything taste 10x better and everyone was devestated when we momentarily lost it. Oh and I finally made a decent wine choice. SUCCESS.
